Haven't had any pictures to post. We've just been hanging around.

We finally got some more snow! Who knew I'd be disappointed in the amount of winter/spring snowfall in N. Dakota?

Cormick is sick and has made his bed and Tim's clothes his personal vomitorium. In lieu of showing pictures of that, here is my first stupid sock creature. I did everything wrong but I'm still proud because I've only picked up a needle three times (including the one I lifted in the making of this sock creature) during my entire life.

Cormick and I were both bored waiting for a long stoplight this morning. So, to keep us both happy, I pulled out the camera and started taking some pictures of Cormick in the back seat. He began to fake smile as soon as I starting snapping the shots.

Once Cormick realized he had an audience, he decided to ham it up a bit. First he got a whole mouthful of water and then, well . . . check out the next picture.

Can you tell what he's doing from the picture?

So, I decided since no family could be with us for Cormick's second birthday, I'd take pictures during the day to give you all an idea of what his day was like. The next 20 or so photos are all from his "turning two" day. This first one is a photo of the candy bugs I made to pass out to all the people we met up with on Cormick's birthday. (Who has too much time on their hands, "I do, I do!")

Here's the bugs all dressed up.

After getting up and dressed, Cormick kicked back in the chair for a quick Baby Einstein video. It's a bad habit I've allowed him because I'm usually so tired in the morning that I need him to be occupied while I finish waking up and do my early morning "chores." He usually gets to watch one video and then, if I'm desperate to get dinner done, he'll get to watch another one in the evening.

Nothing different for breakfast -- Cormick's usual. Fruit and yogurt -- but not mixed. He'll puke if they're mixed.

After breakfast, Cormick and I headed into town because he had art class at the local museum. And not only was it art class, it was ZOO day at art class -- Cormick's favorite! The zoo animal brought in was a peahen. Yes, you read it correctly. A. Pea. Hen. The female version of a peacock.

Soon after the zookeeper took the bag off the peahen's head, she escaped! Cormick had been uncertain while the zookeeper held the peahen, but once he saw her fly, I had to hold onto him with all my might because he wanted to touch that bird so badly!

The nice zoo person managed to wrangle the peahen.

Right after this picture was taken, tragedy struck. The peahen, unhappy with its lot in life, tried to break free. This scared Cormick very badly. He cried for several minutes after getting hit by the peahen's beating wings.

Isn't the whole art room cute! Most of the kids totally groove on the art projects.

Can you tell he was still unhappy about the whole incident. This was the most cheerful he looked the rest of the class.

Here is the peacock the kids were making. Not Cormick of course - he was still too traumatized.

After art class, Cormick had an appointment at MSU for speech therapy. There's a young mom from the base who's son, Austin, attends sessions the same times we do. I don't think Austin is a big fan of Cormick's because Cormick steals whatever toy Austin is playing with EVERYtime. His mom, fortunately, is very nice about it.

This is Alyssa, the graduate student assigned to help Cormick with his speech this semester. Is she not the cutest? When Cormick's a teenager, he's going to be sad he didn't know what a good thing he had when he was a toddler.

Alyssa used this Pooh bear to get Cormick to say "bear," "nose," and "on." The Pooh wiggles his nose and says things when he's poked in the belly.

After Dad left and Cormick was finished with lunch, I tried to get him to take a nap. No dice. He was quiet for about 30 minutes but then started to whine. Since the weather was nice, I took him in the jog stroller for a run. He was pretty mellow the whole time, but he still didn't sleep

After his session with Alyssa, we came home and had lunch. Tim made it home for lunch and had time to read to Cormick. I believe he's making the "baaa" sound in this picture.

After taking a ride in the jog stroller, Cormick wanted to jump in the puddles made by the melting snow.

He splashed so hard his pants started to fall off

After splashing around, Cormick made his way over to our plastic cube, climbed up, and started sucking the melted snow off of it.

After climbing on our stuff, he went and played on the neighbor's swing set.

Once Cormick's nose reached the level of pinkness that indicated we needed to come inside, we went indoors and I took off his wet pants and socks. He ran away when I tried to put dry pants and socks on him so I just turned up the heat a few degrees and left him alone. In this photo, Cormick is reading a book in the sun - minus the wet pants and socks.

Once Dad got home and we finished dinner, I started to try and get things set for Cormick's birthday cake celebration. Rather than help, Cormick tried to thwart me at every turn, going so far as to try to prevent me from using a noisemaker.

Once the table was set, it was time for the ceremonial blowing out of the candle. This was, by far, Cormick's favorite part of the whole cake-thing. Here he's getting prepared to blow out the candle by taking a deep breath.

Finally, after all the blowing, he got to taste the cake.

Cormick didn't really like the cake. Obviously, he does not take after his mother.

Now he's trying to give the cake away.

After the cake, Dad gives Cormick a bath. Cormick loves his bath. At the end of one, as the water empties from the tub, he'll lay down in the empty space in an attempt to forestall the inevitable.

One of Cormick's new things is to intently squeeze the life out of all of his bath toys. You can tell the effort he's making by the concentration on his face.
